5158, But Figurative

Created by Raven Kwok using Processing, 5158 started as a feasibility study on plane tiling using Heighway Dragon curves. The pixel data is later fed into the generative system and controls the folding of every line segment within the curve. The construction process is recursive, mapping the number of iteration to the combined brightness of the corresponding pixel area. Every dragon curve within the tile folds and transforms in turn, collectively revealing a figurative image captured by the webcam in real time.

5158, But Figurative is debuted at the group exhibition Always Growing curated by Shen Jing (沈静) at Foundry, Dubai, UAE.
