A Step Closer @ UCCA Edge

A Step Closer is an interactive installation commissioned by Braun and UCCA. Same as what Braun does in its S9 Pro+ foil screen design, the work utilizes Voronoi diagram, a tessellation pattern that consists of seeds and their distance-based regions. A Step Closer captures audience faces in real-time and generates quad-trees based on a customized edge kernel. The geometric centers of all leaf nodes in each quad-tree are then used as seeds to generate a Voronoi diagram reflecting the audience’s facial features.

The installation is programmed using Processing.
