117CA

System 117CA is originally created to generate visual variants for the Processing Community Day (PCD) Shanghai 2026 event, which I co-organize with NYU Shanghai IMA, Avant Contra (罗霄) and Code2Art Community.

It is a customized tweener that works on rectangles and annulus sectors, parsing the compatible shapes as series of vertices either in a zigzag or an orthogonal spiral layout. Each shape stretches out and folds up into the target shape, in a way partially similar to my earlier work Glyphshift.

Transformation between a random rectangle and annulus sector
Applied on typography by fitting multiple units to characters strokes “你好世界”
Applied on Processing 4 icon by cycling through the three components
Applied on typography by fitting multiple units to “hello world” with various segment weights
